"Colonna Sonora" Film Music - Italian Style
Movies have musical soundtracks or “colonna sonora”. This music, whether helping create a mood or emerging as a hit record, often stays in our mind to become the very soundtrack of our lives.

The Italian influence can be found in Hollywood's Golden Age of the movie musical as well in post-war Rome where “Cinecitta” (also know as the “Hollywood on the Tiber”) produced masterpieces such as Fellini's “La Dolce Vita” and “8 ½.”

Composers such as Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini and Harry Warren produced outstanding instrumental melodies for the cinema which have been performed by legendary stars like Sofia Loren, Frank Sinatra, Vic Damone and Dean Martin.

Midday Jazz hosted by Ronny Whyte at Saint Peter's Church, Lexington at 54th Street, NYC. Wednesday February 13 at 1pm
Nat King Cole, one of the most identifiable voices in American popular music was also one of jazz's finest pianists. His unique sound and remarkable sense of swing led him to be a major influence and inspiration. Having sold 50 million records in his lifetime the Capitol Records building in Hollywood is still referred to today as, "The House that Nat Built". Despite his stardom in music and television he often encountered a world of prejudice. Despite such personal and professional challenges he projected enormous dignity with the power of his talent, grace and gentle demeanor.
